1927 Atwater Kent Valve Radio Receiving Set Table Model 33

This amazing looking art deco domestic radio is a 1927 Atwater Kent Valve Radio Receiving Set Table Model 33. Beautifully engineered, it was made by the Atwater Kent Company, Philadelphia, USA for the home listener. Renowned for their quality, this model retailed at $90 when released in 1927!

Made from wood, metal and bakelite, this nearly 100-year old radio is in excellent cosmetic condition. The wood has some surface blemishes and patina, the internal workings/wiring looks to have had some restoration work. It comes with a full complement of six globe valves.

It would have needed an external speaker and have been battery operated: neither batteries or a speaker are included. It has not been tested and is sold as a collectible for display only as per our

A fantastic wood and valve Art Deco radio, made by Atwater Kent of 4700 Wissahickon Avenue, Philadelphia, which, at that time, was the biggest producer of bakelite and the largest radio manufacturer in the world.  In 1936, as Mr Atwater Kent did not want to compromise the quality of his products in order to make them more competitive, he closed the factory!
